First day narcotic free

Yesterday, day 14 post op bikini cut, I went without narcotic pain pills, it was a bit rough but I made it through.
I noticed a lot of twinges and sharp pains internally that I didn't notice before. Having weaned myself off the pain pills my normal diarrhea has come back so now I'm back on my powder med for that which sucks because it creates a 5 hour window when I can't take any meds because it binds them up and they won't work. Time to figure out a new schedule for my drugs.

On the up side I reached my goal of being off the narcotics by my birthday!

Well you have a great day for a birthday, it's my 7 year olds bday today too!

I am trying narcotic free today too. I just had my surgery yesterday but I hate narcotics. My pain is not too bad.

DON'T DO IT!
I hate narcotics also, but you have just had MAJOR surgery and they do have their place in life and this is it! You probably still have some of the anesthetic in your system and when it finally wears off you will want the pain killers so take them. There is no reason to be miserable through recovery and the stress of pain will slow your healing process. <3

Using them as prescribed it is highly unlikely that you will become addicted to them which is my fear. My Dr said that I was on track for getting off them when I saw him 3 days ago and told him that I was down to 2-3 doses a day and he was impressed that I had already started weaning myself off them.

Thanks! Ya I didn't make it. After lunch I took a little walk around the yard and my insides felt like they were burning up. So I took one and fell asleep. Much happier now .
