Am I being morbid?
My surgery is 8/25/05. With HysterSisters' help, I've been staying "upbeat" about it. However, among the many list I made was one I completed today.
I took the day off work, updated my will, drew up a power of attorney, and signed a living will. I've gotten my life insurance policies and important employment benefit papers together in one place.
Now I've got to tell my DH...not exactly sure how he is going to react since he thinks if we don't talk about the surgery much, we'll both feel better. Wrong...however, I understand his reaction based upon his family history so I'm not upset about it. I worry about him and want to make some things easy for him if by chance God feels it time for me become an angel or I become unable to make decisions myself.
Am I being morbid? Or kidding myself that I'm upbeat about what I am facing?????

Am I being morbid?
I don't think you are being morbid. This is major surgery and there is nothing wrong with being prepared.
The night before my surgery, I showed DD where my will, living will and all important papers are kept. She didn't want to hear it, which I understand as she is only 22, but as my closest living relative she had to know.

Am I being morbid?
Dwl-
It doesnt sound to me like you are being morbid. Prepared, organized maybe. But nor morbid. I wish you all the best. And in my opininon, it never hurts to take a realistic approach. It sounds like you have all your ducks in a row.
good luck

Am I being morbid?
I don't think you're being morbid either. My daughter (20) knows where my will, powers of attorney and financial information is, and I reminded her before surgery. We should always have those things in place anyway, because we never know what tomorrow will bring. It's another reason to rejoice in our families and friends and not put off things that are important to us. Have a speedy recovery!

Am I being morbid?
No, not morbid, just taking care of "business". One of the things I worried about was "how in the world will my husband get the bills paid, when he doesn't even know what bills we have or where they are?" I did all that same stuff, except I couldn't get anyone to listen to me when I wanted to tell them about it.
I left notes and letters with all the details inside. When I got home, they were still all sealed up and that's ok. The information was there if they had needed it, and I didn't have to worry about it anymore

Kay

Am I being morbid?
I don't think it's being morbid. I think it's more like being a loving, caring, devoted wife/mother. I am doing the same things!! My life insurance papers get signed tomorrow and I don't even have my surgery date yet!! I'm making sure that NOTHING has to be harder than it will already be-should the worst happen.
I have come to terms with my fears over the Big H and don't feel quite so scared that it will go wrong (thanks to the ladies here, and my friends around home)! But, you bet your bottom I'm gonna be prepared anyway!!

I don't think your being morbid at all. I did the same thing, I told my dh and dd where everything was, hoping if needed at least one of them listened to me. I wish you a speedy recovery. Carol

Am I being morbid?
I am doing the same thing, I should have done it much sooner with my other surgery(ruptured appendix) I mentioned to my b-friend to help my kids get all my benefits in order (we worked in the same place)well the surgery went fine and thought nothing about it (I like to procrastinate). I am going to have my son go to the attorney with me as executor of my estate, just in case. You just never now and I don't want to put my kids through any more anquish than they have to be.
