bleeding w/ bm's?

A pathologist confirmed adenomyosis about 7 years ago, after a myomectomy. While my bleeding isn't as intense as it was back then, it has become different over the past year or so. I had 5 months of very long "normal heavy" periods. December- February had shots. In March, I got my period back.

Since April, my periods last about 2 weeks. The relatively new part is that after my period is over, I bleed with bm's. Sorry about the description, just need to know if this is normal or not. Part of the blood is rusty-colored. More blood comes out, that is bright red and clumpy. I then have to wear a pad for a day or so as that bleeding eases. Go back to a pantiliner- to protect undies from daily spotting. Then, another bm & it all happens again. This cycle continues until my next period. If I'm lucky, maybe a week without any bleeding.

It sems very strange to me- but what do I know? lol! Does this sound familiar? I will be having a hysterectomy, just need to get my life straightened out before that can happen.

Any help or opinions??

I would strongly recommend that you talk to your doctor about what you are experiencing. This does not sound normal to me at all. While it all could be GYN related, there is also a possiblity that there are other medical issues going on and you need to be checked by your doctor.

Thank you, Weiser. I was hoping to hear that it's very common though, LOL! I guess I ought to call later this morning then. I'll let you know what happens.

Heathertink, I strongly encourage you to get to a gastroenterologist and see if he/she will order a colonoscopy. It is not normal to bleed during/after a BM. It especially isn't normal to have to wear a pad because of bleeding after a BM. Please get this checked out!

I just had my first colonoscopy 5 days before my hyst. I was really stressed about it, but I'm really glad it has been done (and the results were good - 2 polyps removed, nothing wrong with them).

First, definitely mention this to your dr.

You might want to note if there is a pattern as to when it's happening. That may help your dr. with a diagnosis. I have this from time to time, and it always is at a certain point in my cycle, between periods.
