Still tired at 3 weeks

Just wondering, how long does it take to really feel normal? I feel like an old woman, for heaven's sakes! I had the LASH procedure done 3 weeks ago, and I feel so drianed! If I lay down, I'm asleep within minutes! My husband laughs at me, but it really bothers me that I'm so exhausted! Other than that, I feel great. Does anyone else have this problem, and how long did it take for you to feel REALLY normal??

Still tired at 3 weeks

Hi Destiny! I'm only just over a week ahead of you and still get tired. My SIL had this done just over a year ago and it took her almost a year to get to feeling totally normal. Now she had extensive surgery for endo and adhesions as well and lost a lot of blood, so she was anemic too. That might be something you need to get checked is your hemoglobin and ferritin levels to see if you need to take iron. I've also read here that one of the lady's doctors said that it could take 6 weeks to get the anesthetic out of the system. Best way to get rid of that is water and walking. This was MAJOR surgery, a MAJOR assault on the insides of your body. The outside may look good, but inside your body is working 24/7 to get its healing done. So, listen to your body and rest when it says to.
I know its no fun, its frustrating, but I'm sure its better than whatever you were going through before surgery and that's what you need to keep in mind.

Well, first I am wondering if you were tested for anemia before surgery? If not, this could be the problem now. Your body is healing and if you were depleted of iron, it will take a little longer. AND from what I read on here...the exhaustion could last longer than 6 months. Have a good frank talk with your Dr. and see what he/she says. I am 4 weeks...and I still take naps and sleep through the night.
Kisses,

It is normal to feel drained for a long time, much longer than three weeks. When i returned to part time teaching at 12 weeks, I felt very 'normal' at home, but the very tired again those first few days.
