post op TaH in May now more surgery
Hi,
I had a total abdominal hysterectomy in May and now Oct 25th I have to go back for rectocele, cystocele and entrocele (sp?). Has anyone had to do this and how is it in comparison to the hysterectomy? They are doing abdominal and perineal surgery. I am despondent over the thought and have no idea what to expect. Thanks

So sorry to hear that! Hopefully this will be it and you will be better than new! Have you checked out the other forum here "Bladder Matters." Gals there have been thru similar situations and can answer practically everything! I went there with some questions concerning UTI and bladder a few weeks after the operation. Did you have difficulties before your hysterectomy, or is this because of the operation, if you don't mind my asking what happened? (My castle date was the day after yours.)
The very best to you! Wishing you a Speedy Recovery!

I had TVH 2 weeks ago and now have what appears to be a rectocele. I am freaked and don't know what to do if it is. I don't read really great things abouth the repair on that. I hate to end up with painful sex for the rest of my life but don't want a bulge down there either.
Is yours bad and cause you problems and how long have you had it? Sorry I have questions and not answers.

I had a LAVH-TSO w/a rectocele, cystocele and entrocele repair. My surgery took just over 3 hrs to do. I was having all kinds of probs prior to surgery b/c of it and it was caused from gaining 92 lbs. w/my first child and then having 2 more children afterwards.
I really can't "compare" it to just a hysterectomy since it was all done at the same time. I can tell you that I resumed sex around 8 wks post-op when my dr. gave me the go ahead. The very first time was a bit uncomfortable, but given the circumstances and everything that had been done down there, it's no wonder. I can tell you that it is getting much easier and better down there. The biggest prob. I have is w/bm right now. No matter what I take to help soften the bowel and such, it's still quite uncomfortable and such.
I'm glad that I had all of my repair work, scar tissue removed and my LAVH-TSO all done at the same time. The worst part right afterwards was not being able to sit down for about 3 wks w/out unbelievable pain. I still have a little prob. w/that every now and again if I sit down the wrong way. Dr. said that's b/c of the scar tissue in the perineal area.
All the best to you!!!

Hi folksy,
I did not have any problems before surgery. The doctors say that when they took the uterus and tumor there wasn't support any longer. I also have a history of 9lb baby with forceps and gaining half my weight with each pregnancy. I was 100 lbs and 150 at each delivery (x3). I followed the rules after surgery and have not had an uti but have had bleeding from the bladder, no dribbling or leaking but very hard time with bowels.

I just got confirmation I have a rectocele that formed right after surgery (just 3 weeks ago) for the same reason. I am trying some things before I go for surgery again but please let me know how yours goes! GOod luck, Kathie
