Hi everyone--This is my first time to the site.
I had my surgery on Feb 20, so I'm just about three weeks out now. Had my uterus, cervix, tubes and ovaries all removed due to uterine prolapse and had cystocele & rectocele repairs as well. I had the surgery Tuesday AM & was in the hospital until Thursday afternoon. Have been feeling really good, except everything I do seems to make me REALLY tired!

I am having as few symptoms though that I wonder if they are common-- still seem to have alot of gas. My doctor wants me to take a fiber laxative pill every day till I go to see him April 5th for my post op checkup, which I do most days (have had loose stools a few days, so I didn't take the pills those days), I wonder if they are responsible for some of the gas. Also have pains off and on in the right lower abdomen--is this normal? It's kind of weird, like something in there is switching positions, gurgling around. Also, still having some drainage, which I thought was supposed to stop after a couple weeks (that's what the nurses told me anyway). No fresh bleeding, just a sero-sanguinous type drainage. I have been wearing a panti liner during the day and thicker pad at night.

Welcome to the site!

Are you drinking plenty of water with the fiber pills? I am suppose to take mine with at least 8 oz of water. If you do not drink enough while taking fiber pills, it can cause problems.

Some of us have drainage longer than others. If you find it has a fishy odor, is greenish in color, and/or you are running a fever, let your doctor know.

The pain you describe could be a number of different things so it might be a good idea to ask your doctor about it. If you have any questions or concerns during recovery, do talk to your doctor.

Many best wishes to you!

Hi there Gracie May! I had my operation the day after you. Feel pretty good but still feel that I am very internally bruised in bladder and bowel, like I was kicked by a donkey! Actually this has been a bit worse over the past few days, as if the bruising is 'coming out'. But I kind of expect it as the consultant told me that he had to separate bits that were stuck together. I take a sachet of something called Movicol in the UK (which is a laxative with macrogol which draws the water in to make it easier to go to the toilet) and this stops me being constipated. Have IBS so need to be careful to avoid constipation.

I think it's early days for us February girls at the moment but maybe call your doctor if you are worried?

Louise
