2 week post-op and a question
All was good at my appt today
Dr. said I should begin to increase my physical activity and hopefully in 4 weeks when I see him again I'll be back to normal speed. I can lift anything under 20 pounds. Also, he suggested that I take Aleve so I can get moving again
He looked over the report and said the reason my ablation didn't work is because I had adenomyosis and endometriosis. I thought he said something else that began with myo--- something but I can't seem to find it.
My question is, isn't adenomyosis detectable with testing? How do some people know that is an issue (also endometriosis), but I didn't have a clue? I had 2 drs. suggest the ablation, but apparently, there was no way it could have worked for me. (My surgeon wasn't one who suggested)
Any thoughts??

You don't necessarily have to have endomyosis when you have endrometriosis. They found endrometriosis on me first then had an MRI and thats when they found the other. It's hard to detect especially if you have endrometriosis. At least that is what my drs say.
Not sure if this helps or not.

2 week post-op and a question
As far as I understand it there is no test that detects either endometriosis or adenomyosis. My endo was diagnosed when I had a laparoscopy to figure out what was showing up on my ovaries. The adenomyosis wasn't found until the hysterectomy and it was in the pathology report. From what I have heard, that is the first time a lot of woman discover that they have had that. With some woman both are suspected because of symtoms, but it isn't conclusive until they have the surgery. Some women have an enlarged uterus with adeno, but even that depends on the extent of the disease.

Thanks, ladies
So, it sounds like adeno and endo are very common issues discovered after a hysterectomy. Bummer that they aren't treatable without surgery. I guess I'm just thankful that surgery is an option to eliminate the problems!
