Pre-op appt. done...ugh!

I had called the doctor's office a week ago & asked about the bowel prep. Nothing in the chart about having to do one. Went to my pre-op appt. today & that was the 1st thing she said. "You'll do a bowel prep the day before surgery". YUCK! Thought I was getting out of it, but no such luck. I completely understand the need for one & kept it in the back of my mind that I may end up w/ one. Oh well, at least 1 bottle of mag citrate is better than the sur-prep for a colonoscopy!!!

So...the surgery countdown begins.

I had to do 2 bottles of mag citrate. I'm sure you'll do fine with just one bottle.

Good luck!

Re: Pre-op appt. done...ugh!

I have to do it to...my surgery is tomorrow. OMG I barely was able to drink the one bottle...he wants me to do two. I can't. I gagged on the first and had to fight the urge to actually vomit.

Re: Pre-op appt. done...ugh!

They never mentioned it at my pre-op.

When I called the surgeons office to see if I had to do one or not just to be sure her assistant said NO.

Being nervous I asked her: are you sure?!

She said: do you WANT to do one?

NO!

Every surgeon is different it seems.

Re: Pre-op appt. done...ugh!

I asked my doc about it and she said I don't need to do one. I was so relieved!

Re: Pre-op appt. done...ugh!

Thanks for the support ladies!!! Dznypal---no real problems with sur-prep...it just doesn't taste good. Suggestions: drink it cold, with a straw & chase with a good tasting drink or hard candy if you are allowed to have it. It's nice to have people to talk to!! And...good luck to those of you drinking the 2 bottles!
