Worried wart

I'm having a total hysterectomy on June 10th and let me tell you I'm getting nervous. Waiting to hear from the insurance company to see if they will approve it is making me crazy. I was told that I have degenerating fibroids which are causing me pain. There are days that it feels like someone is beating me up on the inside. I have a lot of back pain and go to the restroom a lot. I've had problems with my female parts since I was 20 and had 2 d&c, tubes tied and uterine ablation so now this. Which I knew it was coming it was just a matter of time. I have no children and I was the one who wanted a whole house full of time but that isn't going to happen naturally. I just wanted to know if any of you had problems with insurance company's deny the surgery. My doctor told me I have nothing to worry about but my mind goes a mile a minute thinking of things that can go wrong. Help

Re: Worried wart

Please don't worry! Your doctor gives the insurance company the reason for your surgery and she/he knows how to write it up so it gets approved. I'm having my hyst after a relatively short period of trouble (started problems March 5th - never had a symptom before then). My doctor had to submit two additional letters to BC/BS to get my approval because they wanted her to do more tests and "other therapies" before they agreed. They wanted to rule out thyroid or GI issues, even though I had a conclusive MRI for adenomyosis. Luckily doctor is sharp; she went through my past GP's notes and saw that I had a normal thyroid study within the last year, and I had no GI issues before. So - I'm approved because my doctor knew how to do her job and I don't have to suffer through needless tests. If your doctor told you not to worry - DON'T WORRY. He/she knows how the insurance thing works.

Try to relax and take care of yourself. Best wishes to you.

Re: Worried wart

I am having my hyster on June 10th also!! I am nervous and excited all at the same time. I am sure your insurance company will approve your hyster. Sharpie is right the Dr's know how to write it up so they sound necessary even if they aren't. So I am sure you have nothing to worry about!!

Best of luck to you!!!!!

Re: Worried wart

((( Kelly )))
You sound pretty normal to me. I fretted until I had approval from my insurance company too.
I hope that you hear soon and it's good news. Just remember that if they don't approve at first - you and your dr can appeal the decision.
