one week post op da vinci hyster uterus/cervix

Had sutures removed from two small incisions. Can resume regular activity in 3-4 weeks... walking around, feeling pretty good. Also said wait at leat 28 days for normal sexual activity, have to be careful of the cuff. My husband and I researched the cuff, now I am totall afraid of rupturing the vaginal cuff. I had the Robotic Da Vinci, which I read was greater risk of vaginal cuff dehiscence. ( I was horrfied) it said it was rare, but how rare??????

i also had the davinci, have a cuff and was told to wait 8 weeks for sex... my dr said that he'd rather i be safe than to have my cuff healing disrupted...

Wow, I have not even thought of the cuff yet. Sex is so far from my mind (poor hubby). I am going to look into cuff problems. I had radical with removal of everything including lymph nodes and omentum. I will need to look into the cuff. thanks.

wow, I didnt even know about the cuff thing until post-op.... Then reading after... So it's definitely worth reading into...keep me posted... : )

I had a daVinci and was told outercourse creative cuddling was okay as soon as I felt like it (after 1 week) but nothing vaginally for 12 weeks

They checked my cuff at 6 weeks & said to give it at least 2 more weeks to heal all the way up. I ended up waiting until the 11th week just to be sure everything was fine. It was all good!

12 days now post op- but a bit of bleeding, or mostly on the side of spotting... darker in color. But I am hoping it's not a cuff issue or a suture problem within. Have a bit of cramping, very slight. Waiting for Dr to call. so now the dr's office said to rest until they talk to him. Limit activity, which is already minimal. I did do laundry yesterday and picked up clothing off floor, walked around a bit more than I have since surgery...

I had my check up on monday and was told to wait until the 8 week mark and then to take it really easy! She said any trauma to the vaginal cuff would have me seeing stars and NOT in a good way! I might give it one more week for good measure...we've been married over 26 years 1 more week won't hurt

As you already know from your research a ruptured vaginal cuff is a risk of any surgery. Since I've been here there have been a few threads about it happening at a variety of times in recovery.

I was a slow healer and all told ended up waiting close to 12 weeks. Most Drs say to wait around 6 weeks.

For anyone resuming intercourse it is best to take it slow and easy until you feel more comfortable.

As far as frequency in one study I saw it said "Twenty-one of 510 patients were identified with vaginal cuff dehiscence (incidence 4.1%, 95% confidence interval 2.3-5.8%)." 10 of the 21 were thought to be triggered by intercourse. This study said it was similar to other laproscopic procedures and what you want to watch for is Vaginal cuff dehiscence should be considered in patients with vaginal bleeding and sudden watery discharge.

It is scarey so be gentle.
