Almost 5 weeks post op and body seems real out of wack

Ladies - going into the 5 th week post op and still not feeling the best. The pain from surgery is not bad but I can not get over the fatigue and no appetite. I am in pretty good shape and this has taken its toll. Looking for any ideas for the fatigue and bloating/ full feeling. I drink a lot of water during the day, walk and my upper abdomin swells so bad it cuts into where my bra is! Ouch I hardly even eat or just small snacks because I feel so full. Any one else experience this? I am even wondering if maybe my food sensitivity could have changed during this?

Re: Almost 5 weeks post op and body seems real out of wack

I am almost 11 weeks and one day is good the next is in bed resting just tired not really any pain. the swelly belly got better around week 8 but still not back to normal. every part of my body has had to be retrained. my knees and back hurt from lack of exercise. but when i think back to when i needed help to the bathroom or had to walk down the stairs one step at a time i have come a long way. it's just not in my timing but my bodies. some days i don't eat much, it seems like i don't get hungry like i used to. i guess it is a surprise, i thought when the dr. gave you the o.k. at 6weeks everything would be 100 percent.(i didn't get my o.k from the dr. till 8 weeks) Hang in there.

Re: Almost 5 weeks post op and body seems real out of wack

Just a thought, and may not apply to you, but I just yesterday switched from the stool softener I was using to a different variety and the distended upper abdomen and fullness has gone overnight (though still have 'swelly-belly' which feels different from the bloating). I have some food sensitivities and a slightly dodgy gut (IBS-ish) so I wonder if maybe it is possible to be more reactive than others to meds. The stool softener I was using, plus the ibuprofen was just a little too much for my system. Changing softeners helped, but mostly I imagine once all the meds are out of my system the bloating and fullness will settle too.

Just a thought and I am *not* suggesting you change meds.

Best of luck and wishing you good health!
