surgery really going to happen this time!
Hi everyone!
I finally had the pre op appointment (the first was a bust lol) and the surgery will be on Monday the 14th @ 7 o am have to be there @ 5:30 am. We are over an hour away so it will be early!
I am just glad that it is finally settled but I am still scared of the surgery. I am trying real hard though.
Also has anyone else had a tah/bso without a bowel prep?
I will not have to have one and I was wondering why?
I have read on here about women having them before surgery but I guess I am lucky because I did not want to do that.
Thank you all for writing to me when I have posted. It really does help a lot. I probally will almost live on this site for the next few days I need a lot of encouragement.
The Aunt that I care for is a lot worse this last week. She has forgotton a lot of people even her only living sibling her sister but she always remembers me because we have been close and I care for her but for about 5 days now she forgets my name and who I am. She took my face in her hands the other night when I put her to bed and patted me saying " I know you but I can't remember your name " and then she started crying. I took a lot of time with her until she finally got it. She is so sad when she comes to herself and has a lucid moment because she wants to be there with me but her Dr does not think it will be good for her because within 2 to 3 months she will pretty much be out of it anyway and seeing me in the hospital might send her quicker. I knew that but I had to ask him so she would not think I did not want her. She cried and cried but she understood and told me that she did not want to go any quicker than she had to. she is really fighting this and the Dr said it is really remarkable. This is a really hard thing for me since my Mom (her other sister) is dead.
Is it just me or when you face something like this you miss you Mom more than ever? I just want to see her so much, Here I am crying just writing this. I guess it is just an emotional time for me right now in more ways than one.
Sorry to be such a downer I have just had a bad couple of days with this about my Aunt. Maybe it is comming home because of Pres Regan having died with this disease. It makes me see what is happening all the more.
Thanks for listening!

Dessie- I had a TAH/BSO without a bowel prep. I was so nervous the day of the surgery that I didn't need one anyway, if you know what I mean.
Hang in there, you will be just fine.

Hi dessie
We share a castle date! Monday can't come soon enough now can it?
About the bowel prep. The doc explained to me that I need to do a thorough bowel cleanse because there is alot of endo on my bowels. The uterus, bowel, and pelvic wall are all fused together with adhesions, so there is always a chance of an injury to the bowels. The last thing you want is to have bowel contents leaking into your abdomen, as this would cause a massive infection.
If my bowel weren't so involved, he said I could probably get away with just an enema the night before, but alas, no such fun for me.
hang in there

Hi, Dessie --
I had SAH with no bowel prep. It just depends on what your doc wants.
I'm sorry you're without your mom right now. Mine is gone, too, and I still miss her after 23 years.
I will keep you and your aunt in er.
