Re: Surgical menopause?
Sorry to hear you're having a rough time! I'm going through surgical menopause too, and I know how bad it sucks! My hormones are all over the place too, and some days are better than others.
I don't have any experience with hrt, but I'm sure someone who does will come along.

Re: Surgical menopause?
Hi Bight eyes, I know how miserable surgical menopause can be, and I'm sorry you are having problems. Some of us have a rough time of it. I was a wreck and had hot flashes the first day. They didn't start me on HRT for 10 days. The reason the doctor said he waited was that the effects of anesthesia, trauma from the surgery, and the effects of the pain meds can cause a lot of the same symptoms as menopause. He wanted to make sure it was really menopause symptoms he was treating and give my body a chance to settle down and adjust. Hopefully when your body settles a little more, and you get all those things out of your system, you will be able to benefit from the Premarin. in there.

Re: Surgical menopause?
I had surgical menopause too. I am not on HRT. I find I have less tolerance for nonsense these days. I haven't had a meltdown yet but felt close to one today. A coworker was pushing all my buttons today.

Re: Surgical menopause?
Hi Bright Eyes,
I had a TAH/BSO May 30 and 4 Days later sat at home in the Livingroom crying my eyes out for over an hour.
This has happened only the once but I now have the Night Sweats, the hot flushes...
I do not , for one moment, regret having had this Operation as the suffering for YEARS was worse.
We get through this

Re: Surgical menopause?
I had a total hysterectomy with both ovaries removed, and I am on HRT. I am not nearly as young as you, but I don't want the negative effects of no estrogen, and that is much more important for you at your age. I wasn't beginning menopause when I had my hyster, so my body wasn't ready. I hate how I feel without estrogen so bad that I plan to keep doing HRT until I don't need it anymore. My gynecologist is in the same position. She is in her 40's and says they'll pry her estrogen from her cold dead hands. She told me her mother took it well into her 80's. Some women decide to stop taking it in their 50s or 60s because that is when they would naturally go through menopause. In your case, chances are you'll be on HRT for years and then decide when and if to stop taking it. Hope this helps.

Re: Surgical menopause?
Thanks for the advice! I love what your gyn said! I guess I will wait and see how things go, for now I am sure I need it! Was not pretty without it!
Hugs!
