4 days post hysterectomy: Consitpation
Welcome to the club! I was constipated for 5 days after my surgery, and I've posted on this many times. The absolute best thing you can do to get things moving is to take a daily walk. What also worked for me included regular glasses of water, peppermint tea and prunes with my breakfast, and a green smoothie with cherries and ground flaxseeds as an afternoon snack. Greens are high in magnesium, which promotes proper bowel function; also have some dark chocolate or pumpkin seeds, two more excellent sources. Another trick I frequently recommend to kick-start your bowels is to sit on the toilet right after a meal; this stimulates the gastro-colic reflex, in which the stomach tells the brain that it's full, then the brain tells the colon to empty its contents, to make room for the new stuff coming in. Here's hoping you'll be back to 💩 soon!

Re: 4 days post hysterectomy: Consitpation
I know the feeling! I had constipation for 3 days post surgery. I went off pain meds, increased fresh fruits & veggies, apple juice, raisins and added stool softener. I also added back in coconut oil into my protein shake that I took pre-surgery as well. Then all was good.
Good luck!

Re: 4 days post hysterectomy: Consitpation
I've had continuing issues with constipation after my surgery 2 weeks ago. I just started using miralax, to get things moving better. I tried prune juice, prunes, lots of fruit, stool softeners, lots of water, etc., but it just seems to build up. Miralax seems to be helping. You just need to make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids, since it draws fluid into your intestines. Good luck! For me this has been the most difficult part of recovery.
