Fluid in pelvis w/severe pain

I had my surgery november 12th. Lavh partial hyst and removed 1 ovary and tube. woke up in extreme pain after surgery and.was unable to urinate after cath was taken out, it was replaced and I was kept a additional night. Cath was removed and I felt balloon deflate and it was covered in blood yet I was able to urinate and go home. Was given hydrocodone 10' s and then within a week was told I had a infection. Severe pain kept increasing and this post when's was told at the er I have fluid in my pelvis. They saw it via ct, did a u/s and it was neg for fluid. Went to my obgyn 2 days and had ultrasound and was told fluid all throughout my pelvis. Dr states its only causing minor irritation. Gave me oxycodone for pain since I'm out of other meds and pain increasing. 2 days I've been on oxys and having to double up because pain still increasing was going to give me dilaudid but I'm allergic to it.

Has anyone else had fluid in pelvis after hyst? I'm in excruciating pain. This id my 3rd surgery since october 4th when I had my son via c section. I'm also breast feeding and the pain is making me exhausted. Idk what to do anymore.

Re: Fluid in pelvis w/severe pain

Awwww you poor thing..... Hugz!!! I had fluid in my pelvis after my davinci rob surgery. Like a week after I was feeling some cramping/ pain for 2 days then by the 3rd I had a fever almost 102... Dr admitted me had cat scan and sure enough fluid above my vag cuff. Iv antibiotics were given for 2 days then he had no choice to go back in the OR to drain it.. Was in the hospital for 5 days. I will also mention I had a very bad odor. Ugh!!! Best of luck to you!!!

I had that bad odor to and went to hospital and they said it was infection and gave me antibiotics. Odor went away but pain just keeps increasing. I'm sorry you had this to and worse than me. . Is your pain getting better?

Re: Fluid in pelvis w/severe pain

I had a ct on sunday showing fluid followed by a u/s showing no fluid... On tuesday I had a internal ultrasound showing fluid throughout my pelvis. Dr said it wasn't anything to worry about just causing irritation... I've read cases where it does absorb but the pain getting worse I would think it means another infection or fluid getting worse.

Re: Fluid in pelvis w/severe pain

I'm so sorry you're still in so much pain. I know you're not having any fun right now.

I had a large hematoma which laid along my incision line, just in front of the abdominal wall. Like you, I felt some pretty severe pain. Mine was not found until I was 7 months post-op, because my belly was so numb after surgery and it didn't subside until then.

The fluid inside you is either a hematoma (a collection of blood, sort of like a bruise) or a seroma, which is a collection of other fluids. Hematomas and seromas aren't caused by anything you did, or by anything the doctor did. They just happen sometimes.

It is true that a hematoma or seroma normally does reabsorb into the body, which is why the conservative "watch and wait" is usually the first treatment. The reason for this is that opening you back up to fix the hematoma leaves you open for infection -- it's really rather risky.

Hope your fluid reasorbs. Be aware, though, that it can take weeks or even months for this to happen.

Thank you hun. It's been getting better ish the past couple days. At first the meds weren't working now they are and sometimes I can skip a dose but sometimes I have to take them every four hours. I'm thinking I have a uti to top it all off to :/.
