4 week post op pains and bladder still issue

Hello, I had a lavh about 4 weeks ago. I am still having problems with back pain and swelling, especially on the left side. Also my bladder still doesn't, empty all the way first stream, I have to wait and then some more will come out. Also when I sit down after I think a little urine squirts out. I saw my gyn last Thursday she said my bladder and the area around it is still swollen. Still pains here and there, I still have my ovaries but have been waking in the last week with night sweats and chills every few hours. Anyone else this far along having the same issues? Is all this normal? My gyn said I don't need to see her again until 4/18, she sent my urine to the lab two weeks ago due to protein and white blood cells but said it came back negative for infection.
My heart goes out to all of you, you are all so brave, I had no idea how long recovery would be physically and emotionally.

Yes!!!!! I had my surgery 2 days before you and I still have pain and bladder issues, worse than before the surgery. I leak and urine squirts out when I sit and after urination. I also have an infection and my surgeon had to cut out stitchs (only 2nd patient he ever had to take stitches out). It is such a long recovery, both physically and emotionally. I am on antibiotics and it is still hard to sit very long. I feel your pain.

I am having the same issues. I had a bladder infection after the surgery. I finished taking the antibiotics, and now it feels like it has returned. I always feel like I have to go to the bathroom. Then when I go it hurts worse then it did immediately after the surgery. I have to put a call into the Dr. tomorrow! Hang in there, I pray it gets better for all of us.

Did you say that your Dr. had to cut out your stitches? I am 6 1/2 wks out & have seen no stitches or had any brown discharge indicating they dissloved. My dr. said at 3wk. Appt. That it would happen. It hasn't. Is that ok?

Yes I went to see him because I had so much pain and saw a stitch hanging. He said I was only the second patient he ever had to remove stitiches from. I dont know why they didnt dissolve. I am also doing sitz baths, which ironically I did 20 years ago when I had my son. I see him again tomorrow to see if infection is improving.

Ask your doctor if you can use some vaginal estrogen cream for a few weeks. Since your surgery was vaginal the tissues can get very swollen and irritated.

Re: 4 week post op pains and bladder still issue

I am three weeks post op and had a sling for my bladder as well. I am experiencing the same exact thing. It seems like you have to sit there and listen to know when your "phases" of peeing have stopped. I also have both my ovaries still, have hot flashes and sweats. My body can't determine whether it is hot or cold throughout the day and I am constantly removing or adding clothing depending on the moment.

Re: 4 week post op pains and bladder still issue

The only problem I've been seeing with being 4 weeks Post Op now is that of my intestinal tract still not settling up like it normally would after surgery albeit's I can understand at least 1 reason why- my uterus is no longer there to be rested on.

Either way- anything else has been running half decently smoothly- at least with-in the last two weeks.

The first 9 days I had a urinary infection and also a vaginal bacterial infection. Thankfully enough- with antibiotics and lots of rest- those have long since passed.

Just have to keep an eye on things though and try not to let them get too far out of hand and always keep in touch with your physician so that you know which direction things are taking.

Just my thoughts.

I am five weeks and still have to " focus" to release all urine when I try to pee. It does help when I drink more water, which sounds weird but true.

Bettertogether,
Did your doctor say it will get better on it's own or when should we be worried? I feel like my doctor and nurse line are blowing me off whenever I call.
