Flu(?) and 9 days til surgery!!
I am pretty sure I am catching the flu, and my surgery is only 9 days away (17th)! I have a somewhat sore throat and my nose is starting to run (more than usual). There are so many things going around right now ... I have been using my antibacteria hand wash; and trying to avoid anyone that is sick. Didn't work. I am drinking much more green tea tonight, than usual. I will be seeing my GP on Tuesday in regards to high blood pressure meds and, will ask him if I can take anything. Anyone else get sick before their surgery? Was it cancelled? Good grief don't want to wait any longer for surgery as in pain most every day. Thanks for any responses.

Flu(?) and 9 days til surgery!!
Hi Maxine,
I'm sorry you think you are getting the flu. You may want to give your Dr a call ASAP, as there are meds available now that if given early enough can make your flu symptoms less, and help you recover quicker.
There have been surgeries cancelled due to illnesses. Your body will have enough to do to just heal from the surgery. The two biggest concerns though are usually infection and lung congestion. There have also been women who have been mildly ill who have been able to have their surgeries. I hope yours does not get postponed, but if it does it really will be for your best.
Drink as much water and get as much rest as you can in the meantime, maybe you can be rid of it by your surgery date
,
Kay

Not that there's any good time to be sick, but this is definitely not a good time!
Let's hope it's just one of those short-lived "teaser" colds. I know I often get the sniffles when the seasons change. Like (((Kay))) said, you know the drill -- lots of , fluids, orange juice... But only Tylenol for the aches and pains, and no OTC cold/flu meds without the doc's OK.
I hope you feel better soon.

Flu(?) and 9 days til surgery!!
Thanks for the advice ladies. I see my doctor tomorrow so hopefully he can give me something to alleviate the symptoms. I don't feel too bad today, but I can feel something brewing. I know I need to get more rest, but I go to bed and the mind just won't shut off ...thinking of everything to get done before I go in and what everyone will have to do while I am healing. I have to get my DD and DH to look after my horses for a while and though I know they will do ok, I still fret about them having to do MY chores. I know they don't mind, but still. Oh well. Again, thanks for the advice. 8 days to go! eeegads!

Flu(?) and 9 days til surgery!!
ok, update. I am feeling much better, but don't have much of a voice! I don't have any fever, no rattling chest, very, very little nasal congestion. Just worried that the laryngitis won't clear up by Monday, when I have my pre-op. I would hope they wouldn't cancel just because of that. Because, otherwise, I feel fine. Anyone else feel "under the weather" and surgery still went ahead?
