5 days Post op

I am 5 days post-op and I am not sure how much is doing too much? My surgery was last Wednesday, I got out of the hospital Friday, and went to the casino on Saturday. We were given free rooms for the weekend, so I thought sure. So I played poker Saturday night and 2 tournaments on Sunday. I didn't do anything but sit and walk around. My bleeding had stopped before I left the hospital. Now it is Monday morning and light bleeding has returned, with mild hot flashes and pain on my right side and in my right hip. I haven't had any pain meds since Thursday becuase I was having too many negative reactions. What should I be expecting?

Re: 5 days Post op

Sounds like you over did it. REST is what the Dr. Ordered. You had major surgery and should be doing nothing but laying, sleeping, eating, drinking, walking slowly for a few minutes at a time and having someone else wait on you if you have help. Talk to your Doctor about the bleeding, it is probably because you overdid it. The pain is probably normal too if you are not taking any pain meds. However make sure to call your Doctor to be sure. REST REST REST! It gets better.

Yes, it sounds to me like you overdid it. I know it is hard when you feel good, not to over do it, but we just had major surgery and need to remember that and rest as much as we can now so we will heal properly.
Today is 4 days post-op for me and I am also not sure how much is to much but I am trying to be careful. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Re: 5 days Post op

You also mentioned on another thread that you are back at work. This is my reply from that thread just in case you don't see it cause I think you posted on my weeks thread by accident.

You had surgery 5 days ago and your back to work??? Of course your in pain and spotting. You should be resting! Pampering the princess 100%. Not to yell at you or anything, but wow I can't imagine being back at work on day 5. And I had one of the easiest procedures! Why are you back at work? Do you have to be? Did your dr release you to work?

I really am not trying to be mean or intrusive, I just want you to recover properly and working at day 5 is not a good thing.
