New here with a question..

Hello all,

I am new here and I am scheduled to have a TLH on the 29th. I have a strange question for y'all. I am unreasonably nervous about opening my inside stitches. Can any one help me by telling me what I should specifically avoid so that doesnt happen? I hve the general instructions from my surgeon, but I need specifics.

Thank you so much!

Re: New here with a question..

We're having surgery the day!

Your doctor will read you the riot act about what you can and can't do after surgery. No lifting, no running, no makin whoopee, etc etc etc. Following these rules will ensure you don't over do it and risk damaging your incision.

Do you have a "Pre-op" visit scheduled with your doctor? That's a good time to ask these questions and let him/her know about your concerns.

Re: New here with a question..

No bending...so don't try to tie your own shoes
No twisting...so don't try to pop your lower back
No lifting.......so don't try to lift a bag of groceries...most limit you to about 5 pounds for the first few weeks
No pushing....so take stool softeners so you don't have to strain to have a bowel movement, also, no pushing a grocery cart
No pulling....so don't try vaccuuming...that breaks the pushing restriction to...
No squatting...don't try to fill your pets water bowls, or anything else that would have you squatting down to the floor.
No whoopee, as Arawyn said.

these were the restrictions I was given after a TAH, so it may be different for you. Good luck to you!!!!
