Almost 3 weeks post hysterectomy: did I push something wrong?

I had a BM this morning and have really been trying not to push. This morning however I think I did too much. Since the BM my vagina has a full achy feeling. Feels like something is falling out almost. There is no blood, no real pain...just achy. I am on antibiotics for a kidney infection. Thought it was the full bladder feeling, but bladder is empty. I am.so worried I pushed something out that shouldn't be pushed out. Please help if you can. Thanks Brandy

Re: Almost 3 weeks post hysterectomy: did I push something wrong?

At three weeks, you're still healing. I've read a number of threads here before where Sisters report vaginal aches and a fullness like a tampon is stuck in there. It's more than likely swelling from inflammation - and increased activity can bring it on. In your case it might have been the bit of pushing you had to do. Take it easy over the next day or two, try a maxi pad soaked in water and frozen to "ice" the area, and if the pain or swelling concerns you for any reason, it's okay to call your doctor.

As for what caused you to strain, try bumping up your fiber and magnesium intake. Choose whole grains and fiber cereals, dark leafy greens, nuts, seeds, dried fruits like prunes or apricots, fresh fruits, frozen fruits in smoothies (cherries), avocados, prune juice and with all that bulk, enough water-water-water to swamp a canoe. At 17 days, I woke up from a dead sleep with sharp, sharp stabbing pains internally, and I thought something had gone seriously wrong with recovery. It turned out it was my bowels churning, and it was likely due to not having enough water that day during my waking hours. Felt like someone was mining rocks inside with a pickax. Anyway, I had to actively manage my digestive system for about 7 weeks.
