is the pain normal?

I had a total hysterectomy almost a couple of weeks ago. I also had a cystoscopy during the procedure. I had the easier hysterectomy where they dont cut you completely, just 4 holes (robotic). Anyway, is it normal for the incisions to still be painful? 1 incision doesnt hurt at all, 2 hurt just a small amount, but the 4th one hurts pretty bad. I have no oozing, bleeding, or fever. I go to my doc this week but thought maybe someone could help me before i go, lol.

Re: is the pain normal?

angel2768,

Sounds pretty normal to me. I had an incision that took quite a bit longer to heal up than the others, and it was very sore and tender. You're still early in your recovery. Continue to take it easy and pamper the !!

Re: is the pain normal?

I have two on lower abs, one each side, one belly button stitch.so three.
The lower ones hurt the most for me. Even bruised!
Had stitches removed, healing well but still tender and noticeably soar everyday, especially wearing anything not super baggy.
Good luck at appt.!!

Re: is the pain normal?

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping someone that had been thru it could tell me. I hate it because all my pants hit the incisions at the waistline. I have found that wearing underwear with the tall waist slimmer helps the pain.....i assume because it keeps everything in place

Re: is the pain normal?

I had DVH and my incision above my belly button was the most painful. That said, I think they were all the most sensitive right around the 2 week mark and then got better from there. I had a little bruising that went on for 3-4 weeks. At 8 weeks I can run my hands over the three smaller ones and can't even tell they were done, and the large one is only slightly more sensitive.

Re: is the pain normal?

That's for sure! I'm in 6 weeks today and my tummy is still sensitive. I still wear a tighter than normal camisole as support because I haven't been able to find the right underwear or girdle. The girdles hurt even though I bought 3 sizes bigger.

Re: is the pain normal?

I had the robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy. I have 5 small incisions just to top of waistline. My Dr. Told me before the surgery that my one on the farthest left may have some pulling/pain post op due to that being the one where they pulled the uterus out of & the one right above my belly button also as thats where the camera was. The others dont bother me at all but those teo are the most itchy, pained & pulled. Might be why you notice a more tenderness in yours too?
