HI there
I've had really painful periods since 1983 when I was 15. The only times they didn't hurt was when I was taking BCPs. Even then, towards the end, about 5 years ago the pain was getting bad. I came off BCPs because dh had 'the snip'. FOr a while my periods were manageable.
18 months ago things got awful. Bleeding for 7-10 days, really heavy with clots, awful pain - like being cut open with no anaesthetic. The pain went from mid-back to mid-thigh, and was worse when I went to the loo. Between periods there was no pain. My doc referred me to a GYN who did a hysteroscopy. There were no fibroids - yippeee! I opted for a trans cervical resection of the endometrium. This is like an ablation except that they scrape away the top few layers of endometrium instead of burning it. Anyway the lab has found adeno in the samples.
For now the pain is bearable, nothing a paracetamol can't cure. The bleeding is a few spots in a pantyliner. Whilst I can cope with the pain the GYN doesn't want to do anything else, but when/if it gets unbearable again he will consider a hysterectomy.
I have read some of the posts of other members symptoms and it's nice to know I'm not alone with this. DH does his best to understand but it's not really a man thing is it?
I haven't investigated much of this site yet but I will.
Thanks for reading to the end.
