Re: snack suggestions for after hysterectomy surgery

For taking pain meds I buy pre-packaged rice krispy treats. Work amazingly well.

Re: snack suggestions for after hysterectomy surgery

This was such a great question! I really appreciate all the responses. I read each response and made a grocery list for this weekend. My surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday, so I'm in the final stages of getting stuff ready.
Thanks!

Re: snack suggestions for after hysterectomy surgery

Awesome ideas! Thanks so much! The only thing I think that will be hard for me is I don't like yogurt, pudding, or most fruits. I'm a veggie girl. I just made a list based on everyone's suggestions, and this is what I have:

Fiber granola bars
chips
honey dew melon (will cut up so easier to eat)
watermelon (will cut up so easier to eat)
Jello or mouse
cheese sticks
2 ice creams
cucumbers
carrot sticks
2 Hummus
saltine crackers
graham crackers
a few cans of different types of soup
ginger ale
prunes and/or figs
apple juice
instant mashed potatoes (I love fake mashed potatoes, but not real ones! LOL!)
Italian ice or popsicles - or both
lots of eggs (scrambled, over easy, in a wrap with some cheese...)
rice crispy treats

I already have a lot of green tea at home and will drink that, plus tons of plain water. I also already have a few boxes of pasta, so I could just eat some ziti and butter - which I like to eat when I don't feel well. But my #1 food to eat when I don't feel well is ice cream!

Re: snack suggestions for after hysterectomy surgery

One thing I had wished was that I had gotten paid the day before my surgey so that could have packed the snacks I enjoy. I was going to my parents the first two weeks and they had none of my favorites....I had to make due with what they had. I so craved ice cream, yogurt and pringles chips. I even wanted pbj but all they had was strawberry jam which I dont like

Re: snack suggestions for after hysterectomy surgery

This is what I've been snacking on:

Ice Cream - to kill the hot flashes (that's what I keep telling dh anyway)
Jello - LOVE jello
Potato Chips - easy, no hassle snack (technically a veg? therefore "healthy")
Yogurts - easy and quick
Hummus and pita chips
Carrot and celery sticks with dip - dh cuts the veggies and portions them into ziplock bags in fridge.
Peanut butter and crackers.

Drink as much water as possible!!!

Good luck.

Lots and lots of both.
