Achy legs and shooting pain

Did anyone experience really achy legs? This morning it started in one calf and by this afternoon both thighs and hips were just throbbing? My lower back hurts. I've got these shooting pains going down both sides of my pelvis too. I'm sure it's normal healing stuff, I just want to hear it from someone else.

hey CAmich, i've had achey legs, but, i've had lupus for years, and put it down to that? i got restless legs for some time after as well. but, it could be the fact that the legs/body is kept completley immobile during the surgery, and its a reaction to that? also, just wondering if you're in danger of blood clots? maybe you should check with your doc??? do hope its nothing but a bit of settling in of your new body..........gee.

I know the feeling and can only say that if you are able to get up and move around some, like small walks up and down the street with help of course. That and strying to stretch and take your aleve twice a day. I had the same thing and complained to my doctor and that was what she told me to do. I wasn't taking my aleve untill the pain got so severe and then it took forever to feel good. It's worth just taking it first thing in the morning instead of waiting for pain. Taking a few walks keeps your body kindof greased and lubricated. I sure hope that help some, the lower back pain is something I am still trying to deal with and need to go back after the Thankgiving holiday to talk to my doc about that one. I also experienced a bad calf pain in my left calf that was going into my thigh. I went back to the surgeon yesterday and she did a venus ultrasound to check for blood clots. Good news...no blood clots, so she said to up my calcium intake to 2000mg/day, my magnesium to 600 mg/day, and increase my potassium. She said if that didn't help, I'd need to go to physical therapy. I started in with the supplements after that appointment. Today was the first morning I didn't wake up with the pain. Anyway, I'd be calling your doctor and not waiting.....

I have been having same thing in both hips and legs. I am chalking it up to not being as mobile as usual and using more back and leg muscles to compensate for not using ab muscles normally. I am 4 weeks today and plan to start mild situps. I am also starting to have some hormone issues, both ovaries gone. Have been on Premarin since surgery, I guess my "own" hormones are dwindling. I could just cry, and really don't feel much like interacting with anyone. I only felt like this the day or 2 before period before. I hope this crap doesn't last very long or get worse.

Make sure you do check with your doc though. I ended up with a PE (pulmonary embolism), and never had pain in my legs. It may have originated from pelvis. From what my doc has said, is that ANYONE is subject to blood clots with surgery. That was the first thing I said, is that I had no family history of clots, and was told that it didn't matter. I would just check with your doctor for peace of mind.
