Abdominal Pain After Hysterectomy

Oh my! The gas pains have been the worst so far! Mine were on day 2 though, in the hospital. And the pain was in my right shoulder, and under my right ribcage. I couldn't take deep breaths, had to do quick shallow breaths, started crying, breathing quick, thought I was having a heart attack. It freaked me out, so of course because I couldn't speak through my crying and quick breathing, the nurses were flipping out thinking something was really wrong. Later I find out that they pump you FULL of CO2 like moonflower said. No wonder it was in such a weird place! A heating pad helped me tremendously. It has been my best friend in recovery. I also did the moving back and forth with my knees up (gravity is a good friend in this too). Hope you are feeling better very soon!

Years ago when I had my gallbladder removed, I received some great advice on relieving gas. First drink something HOT (I used hot tea - as tolerably hot as you can) then drink some ICE COLD water. Keep alternating the drinks & it works. Gas can be sooooo painful.

Wella. Those "back" days can be tough to endure. I had one yesterday, but today is a "forward" day! I hope you the same really soon. Who knows? Maybe you'll turn around later today. :-)

OMG do I remember those days! They ARE the worst. I took Gas-X around the clock bc once (only once) I missed a dose and it was the worst pain I've ever had! It took me to about day 8 or 9 (I'll have to go back and look bc I really don't remember now) to have a BM also and that made it even worse. Once that happened, it became much better. Laying on your left side really helps and peppermint tea also.
