12 Hours Post-Op- Sore, Anxious, & Hot

I am 12 hours post-op from my total dvH including ovary removal. I am very sore, feeling hot, and now I am feeling anxious a lot. They said they put an estrogen patch on me but I am not sure where. How long do these instant menopause symptoms last? I really don't want this anxiety to keep going like this. ;(

Re: 12 Hours Post-Op- Sore, Anxious, & Hot

Usually the patches go on abdomen or hip/upper butt area. With luck it's still on, I'd check around for It. Those symptoms should get better if the patch is on and the right dose for you, but it can take weeks or months to find the right balance. Let's hope it works for you sooner. Are you taking your pain meds? Even OTC? Pain won't help you at all, it's best to take your meds to stay on top of It. And do call your Dr if you don't feel better. I hope you feel better soon.

With my anxiety I had to go on Zoloft. Are you still in the hospital? If so you may want to see if hey have a coping nurse available to talk with. They sent one to me while I was in there..

Re: 12 Hours Post-Op- Sore, Anxious, & Hot

Please give yourself some time. My first 2 days were painful, ESP gas, vomiting... Then the first whole week was hell, crying, tired and total hell. Then I perked up. This is major surgery, give yourself time. Sorry if I offend anyone but I would not go on psychotropic drugs from a reaction to surgery just 12 hours hence. That's just me though. I really perked up the second week. I am resting a lot and as long as I follow protocol do fine. It took a whole week to feel okay, have a bm, be able to feel a part of the world, and stop crying a lot. I think I was still woozy from surgery and was still on the stronger pain pills they gave me. I'm not using those anymore. Just the ib600. Also my husband made me fruit smoothies and the vitamins helped, and also it has fiber to help me move. I feel pretty sure you will perk up in a week or two!!
