I had Pre-op today, surgery not for another month plus how early can it be done????

Hello ladies just got back from mytoday. I went in to talk to her about some other issue like why am i having night sweats 36yrs old and alot of bloateness. Well she drew some blood and talk to me a little and my visit turn into my pre-op appt. I was not expecting to have my pre-op done so soon. Ladies are pre-ops really done a month or so in advance? I stil have to go back 1 day prior for more blood work but I was just surprise my pre-op was done so soon. DR. said it was O.K to do it. I guess reality is really starting to sink in that iam having a hyster. Kinda Scary any input I would love Thanks Ladies

I had a TAH/BSO on 4/23, had adno, fibroids and undiagnosed endo (I'm 51 so he just took everything). My pre-op was 3/5, but I had a chest cold and my original surgery date of 3/18 was moved to 4/23 and I didn't need another pre-op and they always do testing the day before (or in my case the day of surgery). Good luck and you will feel better, I have missed my first period already and will return to work next Tuesday. It's tough the first few days but I was home alone most of the time and managed to plan well enough that I had plenty of rest (a key to recovery), fluids, and short walks the first week. I kept all my meds on my nightstand and baggies with crackers, pretzels, etc. in case I didn't feel like going downstairs to the kitchen. Helped me with minor nausea as well. I'm ready to get on with life and each day is better and better - good luck to you!~

I am not even having a pre-op. I just have to go to the blood lab the day before to do some test then I just turn up the morning of surgery.

My dr said if I had any questions I could contact him but I think this site answers most of my concerns.

The day I scheduled my surgery (6 weeks before) was the day I had my pre op. Other than that I did have a pre op apt with the hospital to fill out paperwork in admissions, have an extensive medical interview, receive my instructions for the day before and day of surgery, and to have lab work done. The hospital pre op was 1 week before surgery. My DR called me the night before to see how I was doing and to answer any last minute questions I might have.

My pre-op is two days before my surgery. I have to have blood work, EKG and a chest xray done. I hope that gives them enough time to get the test results back before the day of my surgery.

The important pre-op is the testing you have done shortly before your surgery plus the exam they give you when you get to the hospital. Probably all that matters now is that you don't have an infection at the time of surgery. Don't worry.
