5 weeks postop and no sign of stitches dissolving

I, too, am at 5 weeks post-op and haven't seen any stitches come out. I thought I saw one (or at least a knot) in the toilet bowl the other day after I peed, but wasn't sure. I'm not too worried....healing fine so far. Will find out more on the 27th at my first post-op visit at 6 weeks.

5 weeks postop and no sign of stitches dissolving

Hi
I was exactly one month and nearly five weeks when I went to dr. She told me I still have lots of stitches. She PROMISED they would all come out eventually.
She has been pretty good about her promises coming true, so I guess I have to be patient.....

Hugs

Oh, This is all so confusing to me.
Our bodies are all the same, yet so different. Went for my 6 wk. post op, drove 45 min there...(longest drive yet). She found lots of stiches in there that were loose, and it felt like a sigh of "pick relief" when she tookem out.
She said any sign of anything bloody, or any kind of discharge get on that phone and call her. She also said, NO go for intercouse, and after 2 or 3 more weeks, it better be gentle. ( I'm afraid I dont know what "gentle" intercouse is)! Good thing my hubby and daughter are in Australia...but geeze I miss them!
I only know, I will be careful our bodies are not dumb!
Since she removed that clump of stuff, (I'm assuming it was from the vaginal cuff.. she also said if I bleed she will silver nitrate it. Lots more of the same has let itself out...but it just more stiches I think....doesnt look so much like blood. Actually looks like turquoise!!
Did a really dumb thing afterwards of the appt. though. Made my day a 12 hour one, went with great people (who have always been there for me). Well, they live 45 min. Further than the Dr. Office,...by 10 pm, on drive home ....was crying like a baby....cramping like a delivery....and only thing I wanted in life was my bed.
Will not do that misteak again.
Guess we live, learn and share!!!
Bless you all,

5 weeks postop and no sign of stitches dissolving

I am at the four week post op, and havent seen signs of dissolved stiches either. But when I sit a certain way, there is a PULLING pain inside. I wonder if I am pulling at my internal stiches constantly, because of the different positions I have to try to get comfortable. I still have the muffin pouch over my abdominal incision site, which hurts to touch, and after a whole day of work, or walking, or just laying about the house, it gets more swollen and tender. I also have the FLU, which makes my abdomen feel like its burning, along with the rest of my body. I wonder if radical abdominal surgery, drops your immune system down to nadda, and leaves you suseptible to all kinds of illnesses. I was hoping to feel better this week at the 4th week mark, but I havent yet. Still have tiny spurts of energy, but nothign that lasts the day out. And I am frustrated too! I want SEX again! I havent even HEARD from my doctor yet as to when I get an appointment for my post-op! I call and leave messages, but nothing.
Frustration is building girls..

I saw several of mine but I have to clarify that what I saw was usually the knotted part with the cut ends. I think most of what I found on my tp was the ones from where they redid my episiotomy scar. I had several I found in the latter part of week 2 and now that I think about it, I think maybe 1 or 2 since then and again, those were knots. When they say dissolving I'm not sure how much the material actually completely dissolves. I go back to see my doc next Tuesday and I'm sure he'll tell me what is what.

I am 5 or so weeks also and I stil have stitches in the vaginal cuff. I know only because my DH and I got a little anxious and well, "did the deed", the next day I was in the docs office going "Um, I did this and now what is this pain..lol" I posted a thread a little bit ago on what my doc explained to me about the vaginal cuff and stitches. She did say that it would take a while for them to heal and now I have another 2 weeks before I get the big "OK" to do anything. I haven't seen any come out, but most of them have, but there are some still there. The thread that I posted is "FYI: What I have learned". When you hear people say NO SEX, it is for a good reason, trust me. I was VERY lucky from what my doc said.
