Lavh and post op-is this normal?
Hi there. I had a lap assisted vaginal hyst about 4 days ago with removal of uterus and both tubes because of terrible endometriosis. I've had constant pain and stomach bruising, severe cramping and hardly able to move without belting out in pain. I've had pain in abdomen but today started feeling like (sorry for being graphic) that my insides are being painfully pulled through my vagina, pain in my hips, side, back, constant headaches as well. Is the feeling of my insides coming or being ripped out normal? How long will I have general pain? I'm miserable and my emotions are a mess with being pushed into menopause although I have a patch which is helping. I just feel pain and strain in all parts of my upper body and intense pressure etc. Any input greatly appreciated

Are you taking your pain meds? Pain management is very important this early in your recovery. It will get better with time, I had pretty much the same pain you describe along with burning in the vagina from the uterus bing removed and stitches in there. Make sure you gets lots of rest , take GasX for the gas pains, stool softeners, drink lots of water and keep your feet up. I found sleep was my bet escape from the pain early on. Sending you hugs.

Re: Lavh and post op-is this normal?
Also no bowel movement in 4 days and took laxatives today. Sometimes there is also intense cramping like 10x worse than the normal period cramps I had with endometriosis. Is it possible to have endometriosis after hyst? Please advise

Yes have been taking pain pills as often as necessary. Thanks for the gas x idea. I just am worried about the new part of feeling being ripped apart inside, around hips etc. Sounds like you went through the same. How long did it last? Thank u, hugs back at you!

Re: Lavh and post op-is this normal?
It is normal to be painful after this proceedure, I had the same thing. However I would call and check in with your Dr. your pain level sounds a little high. Mak esure when taking your pain meds you don't wait until the last hour to take them, this can cause a gap in pain coverage and once your painful again it can take more medicine to get it back under control.

Re: Lavh and post op-is this normal?
i had same thing extremes pains, pain everywhere that you have described and i didnt have bm until bout the 4-5th day, which was scary and remember main thing is do not strain while having bm and i used lots of stool softners, drink lots of water, drink prune juice, get lots of sleep, which i also used gravol to help me with nauseau, yes gas X,,and yes when lying down have feet elevated like have pillow under legs while lying down, use heating pad and cold pads on tummy off and on to help with swelling and discomfort. one more thing i found out after surgery is not to use laxatives and this will cause painful cramping, just use stool softners for the first part of recovery to slowly ease things through. i hope this helps, and yes i agree with others that yes give your doctor a call and share your concerns,

Re: Lavh and post op-is this normal?
Awww so sorry for all your going through. I Felt like I was ran over by a truck and every movement was pure misery, but I was only taking motrin (med allergies) but I felt more pain if it was close to the time to take meds.
The cramping is probally the gas and the bowels...it lasts for 1-2 weeks and stool softener will def. help with it moving properly. I drank 7up to get the gas out of my stomach and chest. While your intestines are relocating it is very uncomfortable so move slowly and treat your body gentle (that helped me)
I can only speak for my recovery at about 1 1/2 I felt great was really surprised but then week 3 came and I'm feeling not as good, its a long process for some of us I guess but we will all make it to the finish line
If you are in too much pain make sure to call your doc they may wanna see you just to make sure everything going the way it should.

Re: Lavh and post op-is this normal?
So sorry for all of your pain. It sounds exactly like mine. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and as I type I am sitting here with my heating pad. The first 2 weeks were hell for me. I had terrible cramps and horrible pain in my hips. Every time I moved I felt like my vagina was gonna fall out. Sorry for being so blunt:-) Week 3 has been much better. If you can make it through this, you can make it through anything. I will be praying for you. Just rest and don't panic. The pain will get better soon. Hugs to you💐
