Estrogen shots

Hi,Im on my second estrogen shot.Back in Sept my dr upped my estratest from 1 pill a day to 2.Im also on femring. Was taking Dhea and adrenal supplement along with my thyroid meds. During the month i first stated the 2 estrotests my breasts shrunk..they had become nice and firm now back to small and floppy. Now for months they hurt to touch,my hubby squeexes them and iy hurts so bad.I have mentioned this to my Dr.She did new lab work in Jan and she said all was perfect..I know my sex drive which had returned and went down too. I have been having to take like 1.2 a vicodin since end of sept for a tooth till I can get into the dental specialist.Wonder if it could be causing the breast pain and lower back ache.my nood isnt as good i had a scare back in Mov.so i stopped my DHEA and Adrenal support..Maybe i should go back on them.
Im wonder could i be on too much estrogen or too much testestorone..any thoughts!! Thanks so much!

Re: Estrogen shots

Don't bother with DHEA... you need functioning ovaries to be able to convert it to usable adrenal support... otherwise you will just get androgenic effects.... most find estratest does not cut it as it's not estradiol but rather a weaker form of estrogen. Your breasts probably shrunk due to low estrogen and higher testosterone.

Ask your dr about using a bio-identical form of estrodial, not estrone or estriol. Sounds like it would help. The shots don't last - you get a surge of estrogen initially and then declining levels.. I think they are designed to last 1 month (according to my dr) and it's not a bio-identical form of estrogen at that.

Talk to your dr about bio-identical estradiol replacement... I don't think the adrenal support could hurt. Are you on any progesterone? If the level is high compared to estrogen, it can cause breast pain. It's easier if you separate the hormones - so use the estradiol separately from the testosterone (usually compounded cream). First get your estradiol level up though. And read Dr Vliet's books - she has lots of valuable information on the different forms of HRT and which works which way.. plus the importance of estradiol replacement post menopause.

I think you likely have too much T, too little E. And please get copies of all your labwork so you can see where in the range of "normal" your dr says "perfect" is... is it a level that is for post-menopausal women? Is your E level high enough to support bone health (80-90)?

Re: Estrogen shots

Thank you so much, for answering.I have tried the bio identicals..and hey didnt work. I think its the too high T also, for it was about a month after go on the 2 pills my breasts shrunk..my sex drive was great thru nov and dec and most of jan. So i dont know what is going on.I tried progest.cream ,makes me depressed.Im going to cut back to 1 estratest and see if that helps,my dr is out having a hip replacement surgery and wont be back in till end of April. I also think its time i get a new femring in place.

Re: Estrogen shots

whoops, just reread and femring is bio-identical, so good you're getting estradiol through that... I would suggest using compounded T cream rather than estratest. And gum and teeth issues are common with low estrogen levels. what level is your femring - is it the -.1mg? many of us who used femring found it great but it just didn't last 3 months. for me it lasted only 3 weeks before my E levels started dropping. also, let us know what your dr considers "normal" E level...

Re: Estrogen shots

Yes ,you are right.Im on the 1 mg femring and it last me not quite 2 1.2 months.I love it though//i have compounded t,tried it for quite awhile..ddint work.im thinkg the 2 pills of estrotest must be what is hurting my breasts..if i barely touch them they hurt and ever since sept when dr upped them they have shrunk in size. My sex drive was great nov dec and part of jan..so i know that finally after about 2 years we t getting on the right track..im also on cytomel and synthyroid for my thyroid..dr said at last visit in Jan all was good with test results, but didnt know why my breasts hurt so..they hurt from the inside out.maybe its the low dose of vicodin i take for the tooth, but i read under its side effects and found nothing.I have noticed a devrease in my energy too. Im tired of the sore breasts and tiredness, but dont want to mess up my levels.Dr thinks my body doesnt absorb meds well. Thanks for any and all advice!

Re: Estrogen shots

If your doctor is not answering your calls, maybe it is time to seek another opinion. I have noted from your other posts that you do alot of changing. Perhaps all the changing is affecting you. Or maybe it is more than just hormones.

Re: Estrogen shots

Hello Sister,
My first concern would be the vicodin. You are putting a band aid on toothache something that is extremely stressful on your entire body. HRT is not going to take care of symptoms. I get injections, for the past 6 years, tried pellets. with LOVE

Re: Estrogen shots

The toothache is a big concern,i was to see a dental specialist an a emergency came up and i had to cancel..so now i have to reschedule...do u mean the toothache is a strain on the body or the vicodin...i dont see how vicodin would cause breasts to hurt..i was rolling along great for months on my hrt thearpy, till she upped the estratest and added the shots,,i say No to any more shots. Thanks
