To remove the cervix or not to remove?

Hi again everyone. I am scheduled for my, as of now, TAH BSO on September 11, 2007 due to debilitating migraines. I am a little concerned over whether or not to have the cervix removed as well. It's been suggested to me that to remove the cervix will compromise my ability to have a satisfying sex life. But by leaving the cervix, this would help to maintain a satisfying sex life? Any thoughts???

To remove the cervix or not to remove?

This is a myth. I had my cervix and uterus out and my sex life has improved 100 percent!! My orgasms are stronger and more noticeable and sex is just terrific!! I am glad it is gone too, because the discharge is almost non existent now, and no many periods to worry about!

To remove the cervix or not to remove?

Thank you Colleen! As mine are being removed, do you think having your ovaries helps? Does give me hope though! Christine.

To remove the cervix or not to remove?

I had my cervix and both ovaries removed. Sex the first time hurt. But then the next two times...well let's just say I had multiple orgasms! Woo hoo!

To remove the cervix or not to remove?

I kept my ovaries cause I have no history of ovarian cancer in my family...and I know when I ovulate, and they were working great before my surgery, so why not!? They still are pretty regular, and I hope that stays that way!

Sex is better! Multiple O's are more frequent here, and I am an old bag! LOL Just kidding! I do want to stress just how good you will feel after you heal. You are no longer in pain, and no more periods, and you just feel HAPPY! You never realized how much excess baggage you were carrying around! I don't miss the discharge either!

To remove the cervix or not to remove?

My cervix is gone but I kept my ovaries. I've "tested the equipment" a couple times since surgery, and I'm happy to report that darling husband & I both agree that sex is BETTER! Good luck!

To remove the cervix or not to remove?

its a very personal decision. you can look up cervix removal, cervix removal sexual side effects on the web and find all kinds of pros and cons. it really comes down to what you are most comfortable with. i kept my cervix and ovaries and i'm thrilled that i did. i feel fantastic and sex is perfect. but i'm not saying it wouldnt be without. just do lots of research on the functions of the cervix and the pros and cons of removing/not removing it. make sure you go into surgery 100% sure of your decision.

To remove the cervix or not to remove?

I had my cervix removed and my sex life is better than ever. NO PAIN and NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. I worried about it prior to surgery but I am glad its gone. With two abnormal paps, a cone biopsy for pre-cancerous cells and a polyp removed... I am so relieved that is all in the past.
