Swelly Belly

Hi
I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but when I came home from the castle I looked pregnant. I was huge! It could have had to do with the fact that I had complictions and got alot of iv's. After about a week, I only looked about 3 months pregnant. I just keep telling myself that surely to God it won't stay this way. lol

I have heard many complain of looking pregnant, but mine was never that bad. I normally wear size 8 pants and am comfortable in 10s now.
I do recommend getting a back support band. My doctor didn't tell me about this, I learned about it through this site and just bought one today. Wish I had it from the start!
Good luck!

Swelly Belly

Hi

When I got into the shower for the first time (with the help of a nurse) I looked down and couldn't see my feet! My abdomen was enormous, but I did have a long and complicated surgery.

After a few weeks the huge swelling was gone and, after a few months, my abdomen was back to normal.

But, don't forget ... we're all different. You may have next to nothing! Please don't waste your time worrying about it ... whatever it is, it's only temporary!

Swelly Belly

Good Morning I too have the swelly belly. just have lots of yoga or sweat pants. Before my TAH I was wearing 10 and some smaller 12 now I have about 3 inches before I can button a pair of 18 jeans. On a positive note I have lost 9 lbs since my surgery so I am hopeful when my swelling does go away I will look a little thinner. I did get a abdominal belt from Target and it really helps alot. THe tag inside says Slimmer Belt. They are back in the exercise department they cost 9.99 but check with your doc first as everyones is so different. Also a couple of other things I could not have live without were mints, icepack (for tummy incision) and my 2 squishy boltser shaped pillows. They are the micro bead filled pillows you can get then at Walgreen for 9.99 LOVE THEM. Tuck one under your tummy and one behind your back I dont think I will ever sleep without them again
Everyone heals so differently but you really do HAVE to rest. Good Luck you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

HI
I had a TAH on Mar 22, I haven't had much swelling. I ask the DR for a Tummy Binder and the nurse gave me one.
Good Luck with your surgery
