My LSH was April 27, and I wasn't given a whole lot of pre-op instructions other than not eating after midnight. My Dr told me not even gum or mints, because that causes your stomach to become active and release digestive enzymes.
Here are some things I did to prep for my procedure, and I hope these will help you!
Put all frequently used items like cleaners, extra toilet paper, dishes, dog food, on the counter so I didn't have to bend down to get them out of cabinets.
Set up a bedside table with books, remotes, pens/pencils, medications- anything that would be useful or help to entertain me while in bed!
Make sure the Netflx list had plenty of fun, lighthearted movies in queue!
Stock the fridge with easy-to-eat foods like yogurt, Ensure, Jello, etc.
Stock the freezer with Popsicles- they're wonderful to help soothe the dry throat after the breathing tube!
I bought wet wipes and facial cleansing wipes, but I also ordered the No Rinse products from the store here and those are much better!
Get a stool softener- my doctor had me start taking it the day before the procedure. The first "movement" after the procedure was miserable for me, but it could have been much worse without the softener!
I did have some GasX, but it really didn't make that much difference for me.
I was not kept overnight but I had a bag packed and ready just in case.
At the hospital, you might be given some mesh panties- ask if they will give you a couple of pairs to take home. I did not even feel like wearing big granny panties for a few days, but the mesh panties were incredibly comfortable!
Good luck and hope you have a speedy recovery!!!
