Insurance Pre Auth

I've been reading about problems with insurance companies giving the OK for hysters - has anyone encountered this problem when the hyster was for uterine prolapse with fibroids, enlargement of the uterus, and thickening of the uterine wall?

I didn't personally have any issues with my insurance because I had my surgery in a military hospital and it's somewhat of a different situation. Unfortunately, some members do report having difficulties with their insurance companies approving their surgeries. Some insurance companies want the client to try less invasive or alternative treatments first and some don't, no matter what the reason(s) for the hyst is. Sometimes, it's just a matter of the code(s) your doctor submits for your surgery.

If you have any questions regarding your approval for surgery, you might want to check with your doctor's office and/or your own insurance company.

I'm still waiting to hear from mine so no answer for you here. The dr's office doesn't forsee any with my particular insurance company but you never know. I have heard of some people being denied saying they need to try less invasive procedures which sounds like something my old HMO would do. We'll see!

I'll cross my fingers for us both.
