emotional attatchment to cervix?

I am scheduled for a LAVH on 11/05 and of course with that procedure they do remove the cervix with the uterus. I have already had three children so I don't mind loosing my uterus but for some odd reason I feel really emotional about losing my cervix. I'm only 27 years old so I'm thinking that maybe it's just my way of feeling upset about the hyserectomy. I would really love if any of you could share your thoughts if you feel the same way. Thanks and much love!

emotional attatchment to cervix?

Dear bhamilton320,
I had my LAVH on 8/18 of this year, cervix and uterus removed but I kept my ovaries. I'm 30 years old and have no children. I read your post and wanted to tell you that what you are feeling is completely normal and when you get on that table..all those feelings will go away. I was an emotional basket case right before I went in, and then suddenly when it was time I was completely calm. Try to focus on never having another period and the pain associated with Aunt Flow. No more vacations or romantic moments spoiled because of her. LOL. You will be fine..and like me..you will see that your worries were just your emotions after its all over. I don't miss a thing.. and actually have enjoyed not having some of the pain associated with having a uterus and cervix. And the sex.. omg.. it's amazing!!!! The big O has never felt better. You will see. Good luck.. and I'm here if you would like to message me personally.

emotional attatchment to cervix?

Hi bhamilton320!

Are you aware that the cervix is not a separate organ? It's just the term for the lower part of the uterus that is sometimes called the "neck" of the uterus.

I am sending many positive thoughts your way for a successful surgery and uneventful recovery!

emotional attatchment to cervix?

I did feel an attachment to mine and decided to keep it!

I've never had a bad PAP test so the dr was fine with my decision. I just felt it best to keep as much healthy parts as I could.

You'll make the right decision based on you. Best wishes for an smooth castle visit and recovery..

Personally I can't even tell it's gone. We have resumed intercourse as of this week and that area feels normal. I need to work back up the muscles but the rest seems the same.
