3 months post hysterectomy: Feeling Under The Weather

I had my uterus and cervix removed Jan 8 I've been back to work for a month now. I was feeling great, lots of energy at week 6 but there last 3 weeks I have been battling cold after flu and now have a cold sore. I feel so run down and my mood has been really low the past week. Should my immune system be hit this hard this long after surgery? Feeling defeated

I'm so sorry you are feeling this way. I am in my 10th week and I return to work tomorrow, however, I can identify with what you are saying. This surgery was much much harder than I expected and I have encountered many ups and downs and realize it's just all part of it. I really just wanted to give you a hug and let you know you are not alone. It's definitely more of a battle sometimes than others. Going back to work also means we are exposed to a whole bunch of sickness and stress. I'm sure this doesn't help. And, yes, I think it probably takes our immune system a very long time to bounce back. Hang in there.

My doctor has me on vitamin C 2x day, VSG(?vsl )#3 once a day, and B12 for a deficiency. You could check with doctor on your levels and/or check what's in your daily vitamins.

Thank you Kim, I got lots of sleep last night and rested today, I'm feeling a bit better. I thought about it today and realized I took really good care of myself when I was off, but since returning to work I jumped right in and into all my bad habits of working late, stressing about work and not getting good sleep. I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow and make an appointment to get some directions on how to boost my immune system. Thanks listening and responding! Good luck with your return to work.!

I take a multi vitamin and vitamin D daily but it may not be enough. Good suggestion, I'm going to check with the doctor about what I can do to boost my immune system. Thank you for response. Hope your recovery is going well.

Re: 3 months post hysterectomy: Feeling Under The Weather

My surgery was a month earlier and I have been back to normal schedule at work and thought I was finally past this. On vacation this week out of state and probably doing too much and came down with the flu (unusual for me and had shot). Very discouraging and frustrating. I've read on here that full recovery takes much longer and I guess that's true. So I'm back to watching that I eat super well and get more sleep. I hope we are all very healthy again soon!

I agree! I feel discouraged by getting sick. And it is taking longer to heal than I expected. I guess I thought since I was feeling better I was better and I never expected my immune system to be hit. I guess I was expecting to be dealing with pains and aches. I too hope we're all back to good health soon!
