I'm bored, and feel i have too many restrictions following my hysterectomy

I'm not allowed to do anything. I live in Florida and would love e to go swimming or the beach.
I think one reason for my restrictions is that I'm anemic. They haven't been able to get my blood levels up to normal range.is anyone else having anemia issues?

Re: I'm bored, and feel i have too many restrictions following my hysterectomy

I've been anemic most of my life. Didn't have anything to do with my surgery restrictions. Common restrictions for this surgery include no swimming or bathing, no lifting over 10lbs, if you're on HRT they might want you to stay out of the sun.

Luckily for me, other then rare trips, I don't do sun, swimming or beaches. I have tons of hobbies to keep me entertained during recovery and haven't even begun to touch the tip of the iceburg on what I wanted to do and now I'm returning to a more normal schedule.

It is the pits to have surgery during the summer.

I was finally released today to swim. there is a pool here where we are. Since I can't do heavy exercise, swimming will be good, I just have to get there at 10 when the pool opens or in the evening so I don't get sunburned.

Re: I'm bored, and feel i have too many restrictions following my hysterectomy

I'm not anemic and I had restrictions for lifting, exercising, swimming and bathing. I had the same surgery as you on the 11th. Do you have a post-op visit scheduled? You can ask then when you can go swimming again. I was told that the no bath/swimming restriction was to prevent infection. I agree it is very boring and I can imagine that living by the beach would make it a whole lot worse!! But if you do something too soon you might end up getting an infection or damaging the healing process, and then you would end up taking even longer to heal right.
