Is this "normal"?
I am two weeks post-op yesterday. I go to the doctor this afternoon. I had a TVH (kept ovaries) due to cervical cancer. Before this I really wasn't having any pain or any other problems. An abnormal papsmear that led to biopsies, LEEP, etc...
So, my "problem" is that I have this pressure in my pelvic and rectum area. I have no pain vaginally, but, the pressure on my rectum and back is so bad, that's what I take the pain med's for. I haven't seen this question before and am feeling quite "crazy" for this pain that doesn't seem to have anything to do with my surgery. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!

Is this "normal"?
Lots of people complain about this back pain.
The general thinking here is that it is from the position you are in during surgery. On your back legs spread wide and then back up towards your head. You are in this position for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours, at least.
Also, it may be from the anisthesia [sp?]. People also get headaches from this. It lasts sometimes 3-4 weeks.
Maybe?...this is it.

I had this pain also. It got so bad I put a heating pad on my bottom. About a week later I started bleeding very heavily with clots for about four hours (vey scary since I had a TAH 12/15/04). I went to the doctor the next morning, she did an ultrasound couldn't see anything. Doctor thinks I may have had an abcess that drained itself. I go back for another ultrasound in five weeks. If that pain continues or gets worse I would definately have it looked at. Hope this helps.
