Any ideas for freezing food while in the castle?

Thank you ladies for all your input on freezing meals. I'm actually excited to get started on these ideas. I do have a question, do you immediately freeze the food after it is cooked or do wait until it is cooled down? As you can tell I'm not much of a cook.

glad to help, akita!

Doublediamond--PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE wait until the food is room temp to freeze! also, make sure the food is no more than 2-3 inches deep in the container. Otherwise, food poisoning while recovering from a hyster is not fun....

Hello there chef2die4: Wow, I can't believe that a real chef came across this thread! I'm so excited. Your suggestions are great and very helpful. I will wait for the food to reach room temp before freezing as you suggested. I can't say enough about this sight, all my questions and fears have been answered from you ladies. Hugs to all of you. Great ideas ladies, thanks! Oooh, and wow....a chef!! I'm a lousy cook.

Hey Akita, I love omlettes. How about just fixing the filling and freezing that part of it. Then you can buy eggbeaters (I've never had them) and then DBF will just have to pour out the eggs and add the filling. I'm the only one to make omlettes at my house, DH can't seem to figure out how to make them look neat so he just mixes them all up. It's still good that way...hey, as long as I don't have to cook!

gottap, the eggbeaters is a great idea, too! although, even that may get too messy! I just went downstairs for the first time today, and you wouldn't believe what the kitchen looked like after bf fed the dog last nite! I am stocking up on paper plates, plastic utensils, plastic cups...mother nature will have to be patient while this princess heals!
