Day 12- Still Sore

So I was feeling ok on Sunday and my silly self went to Walmart and out to eat dinner..big mistake..then on Monday went to the Dr so she could check my incision (when they took the staples out it hadnt quite healed right so am having to change the gauze a few times a day) and me and SO had argument and I pitched a fit and started to walk home..yea dummy me...well today, I am sore like someone ran me over with a MACK truck. Last night had a coughing spell and it felt like my insides were busting through my gut. How long will I be sore like this???? I am still doing the pain meds and it helps, but I really just want to get out the bed without having to use so much energy.

Day 12- Still Sore

Dear Dreamaker,
I will be at 4 weeks on Thursday and just this morning was thinking for the first time this morning how much easier it was to get out of bed. In other words, it does take awhile! Another sister wrote a bit ago reminding me that we only have one chance to heal properly, so take it easy! Try to remember that. I am finding that being patient with the healing is the hardest part of my recovery! HUGS!

Day 12- Still Sore

The energy will come & will also go. Just be patient with yourself - you are still early in your recovery! It is said time & time again, you only have one chance to heal properly! Please rest when your body tells you too. I am 3 weeks today and some days I feel great and others I can barley move. Go with the flow and be careful!

Day 12- Still Sore

I am four weeks this week and I can now say that I am finally starting to really feel normal again. Still numb and swollen tummy, but, this last 3-4 days I have noticed a great deal more strength, no more naps during the day.....at all, appetite back to normal (oh darn), and just yesterday I was thinking that my bladder pains at the end of pee's have totally subsided. For me, at the 4 week mark I felt the big difference in recovery. Still not lifting or overdueing "anything" whatsoever, but a definite improvement. Feeling better and returning back to normal really does happen!

Day 12- Still Sore

I had my TAH the same day as you and I am still sore, although not as bad as I feared it could be. I get very tired and take a nap most days. Getting out of bed is the worst. My mother-in-law told me she found it easiest to roll on her side first because it puts the least strain on the abdomen, but I have a catheter on the side of my incision so it doesen't work for me. I tried it this morning and now I have blood and hardly any urine in my catheter bag. I am waiting for the gyn/onc office to call back, but I have an appt this afternoon anyway. Hang in there-it's only been 12 days. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Day 12- Still Sore

I'm five weeks and still get tired and have pain. At 12 days I was still in terrible pain and sleeping a lot. Sunday I laid down for a nap before I went to work, when I woke up I rolled onto my side and apparently I stretched a little and WOW did the pain hit me, instant tears. I still had to go to work so that was a very bad night. You have to take it easy and let yourself heal you are still early on in your recovery. I know I'm not completely healed yet and do try to take it easy but I often overdo and then pay for it. Take care of yourself and be nice to yourself. My second week was my worse, week 3 was a bit better but still achy and tired. Here's week five, better than 2 and 3 but still not great. It all takes time.
