No Date: 37. infertile 1L blood loss, hysterectomy looming... TERRIFIED I'll lose sexual climax

Title pretty much covers it. But with another round of IV iron weekly for a month... know that permanent solutions will have to be found. Knowing family history doesn't have much success with abalation... I fear hysterectomy looming.

Biggest fear is that a hysterectomy that though it leaves my last surviving very healthy ovary.... will permanently deprive me of very reliable sexual climax?

I am glad you found this site. I when I found out I needed a hysterectomy. Your feelings are very normal. All the unknowns are hard to deal with.

Sex after a hysterectomy is different for everyone. Some say better, some say worse, and everywhere in between. For me (I had uterus, cervix, both tubes and both ovaries removed), sex feels different. My orgasms are not as intense (I miss the muscle contraction of my uterus). But, my orgasms are more frequent. Go figure. We do have to use lubricant which does frustrate me.

What Marestail said was helpful to me as well. I worry about changing sexually too with the hysterectomy scheduled in less than a month. I am now at the point of looking for the positive in this situation, that I won't be menstruating and feeling weak all the time and possibly no more back and abdominal pain from the huge fibroid.
I am going to get more creative with sex, if there's a will, there's a way!!!

It may take some time, but you will learn your new body. Just approach with love and patience from both sides, and you should be able to figure it out.

I was scared to death that I would loose my orgasms too. I'm six week wednesday and I have not had sex yet, i'm thinking i'm going to wait the full 8 weeks and of course an okay from my dr. But wanted to make sure that every thing was working, Hehe, so I had alone time with myself I have to say it was just as awesome as before with NO pain. Yes!! So hang there...
