Numbness along incision after hysterectomy

How long did people experience numbness along their abdominal incision? Right now I''m grateful for it as surgery was last Friday, but wondering how long it lingers for?

I have the same thing going on, most will say until the nerves can heal back. However, I had 2 c-sections and after about 4-6 wks I felt like I had most feeling back, in reality it was a much narrower numb area which reduced to about 50-60% loss of sensation at the immediate incision which I didn't even notice after awhile. Hoping for you a good and quick recovery!

The timing seems to vary enormously, but most ladies do eventually regain some if not all feeling as the nerves recover. However, there are those for whom the feeling never returns - like me!

Have you found our Post-Op Page yet? It's packed with information and articles that address all commonly asked questions, including this one.

I'm 11 years post-op and still numb (which doesn't bother me at all) but am sending positive thoughts for your continued healing and recovery!

Re: Numbness along incision after hysterectomy

I'm 10 months post op and my feeling has never fully returned. My doctor said that's pretty normal.

I like it though because it's the one spot I can wax and it doesn't hurt!
