Testosterone ?

My surgery is scheduled for the 21st, and I've been given an Rx for estrace if I choose to use it. Ovaries will be removed. I see some people use testosterone as well. Should I ask about it? Why some and not others? I'll be 50 in December.

My understanding is that if you use HRT, they start you on estrogen and try to find a good level for that, then consider adding other hormones for specific symptoms. I'm 33 and 8 weeks post op, and so far am doing fine on estrogen after 1 dosage change, so my dr didn't seem too concerned about any other hormones.

I take 2mg estrogen tablet and some testosterone cream for libido. I feel great and I'm 55

Get that prescription filled! You will want it after surgery when the hot flashes begin. As the other poster said, usually you are started on one hormone at a time, so that if you have any issues, they know which hormone to deal with. After the effects of the first one are known, they will add in others.
