Nerve damage and bladder fistulas

Hi- I was just wondering if anyone had any info on bladder fistulas and nerve damage. I am scheduled in 2 weeks for a lavh or an abdominal hysterectomy(they won't know until they start) . My doctor told me that a fistula was one of the biggest risks for me, and I am really concerned. Also I have had 4 c-sections which have left me with some numbness, and one in which I had nerve entrapment which was really painful. I also had some pretty significant nerve pain after an incisional hernia repair. Does anyone know if that is a risk for me again? These are 2 of the things that might make me reconsider the surgery. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Maybe you should talk to some specialists, and get some of their opinions before your surgery. You need to have all your questions and concerns addressed.

I thought fistulas were rare. How can you then be warned that it's a great risk for you?

Hi Bik- I think what she said is that this would be my greatest risk. I'm glad to hear that they are rare though!
