24 hrs to go...Now what?

So last night my sisters and friends arranged a great night out. We had dinner and did some jewelry shopping and basicalliy just had a great time!

My house is clean, enough food for three weeks has been prepared and put away in the freezer and such. My Mother is coming in tonight to stay for a week and a half.

Today I am going to pack my bag and make some homemade chicken noodle soup and Jello to have ready for when I get home.

My point of this thread is...I know I am prerpared, in my heart I think everything is going to go fine, so why did I wake up this morning so full of anxiety that I am throwing up? I am usually not this type of person. I have had surgeries before. Even ones with more then 24 hrs hospitol stay. So why am I so upset?

Thanks Skeeter! I am trying to breath deeper and stay calm. Things just seem to come in waves. I did not sleep well last night. I guess there will be plenty of sleeping tomorrow! :P

Re: 24 hrs to go...Now what?

Go for a nice long walk if the weather permits and try and focus on how great this will be when it's all done.

Re: 24 hrs to go...Now what?

We all respond differently to stress. Many people will be thinking about you tomorrow, (Isn't this site great?!) and just remember you are not alone. Things will continue to come in waves, that is just the nature of what is happening.

Go shopping, read, walk, just keep yourself engaged with activity. The time will pass more quickly than you know it, and then your energy will be focused genuinely on healing and feeling much better.

Hugs, and blessings to you!

Re: 24 hrs to go...Now what?

I am worried to. I have had 2 major surgeries and then 2 "minor" surgeries. Been "under the knife" 4 times, but yet i ask myself
WHY AM I FREAKING OUT!!!!?????

You have "prepared" your home and family for this big event! That is a big plus! Maybe you have kept yourself so busy that NOW you are facing the emotions of everything that is about to happen??

I am not sure what i will be doing the weekend before my surgeries. Probably cleaning out the dogs house (it's outside) LOL! Maybe organizing all the spices...heck might remodel the bathroom! hehe

It is the wait that is the hardest part and not knowing the outcome!

Thinking of you and wishing you well!

Hi! Rest,do something fun, talk, write it down. Think of very light foods to eat post-op. Very light on fiber, think comfort foods like mac and cheeses for several days after. No carbonated beverages ,will cause more nausea. You are going thru a normal feeling no matter how many surgeries you have had,be gentle w/yourself!
