Upcoming hysterectomy 9/1 - feeling emotional

My SAH is Sept. 1.
I am currently experiencing my last AF and for some reason I feel emotional about it. Like even though it has been the cause of great stress on my body it has been a part of me so long. It's weird lol
I also am sad today that my uterus will be gone soon...that housed my 6 babies.
I am in a lot of pain today, and bleeding quite heavily...stupid fibroids, but I still feel sad about losing it all.
It seems illogical...yet I can't help it

Also as a quick question...do your ovaries 'putter out' for a bit after the surgery? when do they come back? what to do if they do putter out?

Re: feeling emotional

Your feelings are quite natural, actually. In fact, from my point of view, your reaction is kinda realistic. You may be in mourning for your loss- a body that is "normal". Allow yourself to feel sad. It's the natural way to move through this time. Bless you!

Re: feeling emotional

I know how you feel. I haven't had AF for a year and a month but I recently literally cried because it hit me that I would never be able to have my own baby again. It has been and EXTREMELY emotional roller coaster over here. I laugh, I cry, I scream, I am quiet. I am only going to be 28 Sept. 26th and the fact that I am sick enough to have to have this major surgery has not been an easy ride. I have one little girl who is my WHOLE world and I have 4 angel babies but I almost feel like I am not done being a mom. Fiance told me last week that if I still felt like this in a year or two then we would look into adopting an older child of my choosing. That made me smile briefly.

I wish you a speedy recovery and hope all goes well. I too am glad to have found this site. It is so amazing the support that I have found here. Just overwhelming comfort knowing I am not and will never be alone in the emotions and thoughts I have been having and potentially will have after my surgery on Thursday. I'll say a quick prayer for you and your surgical team! Stay strong sister!
