No fibroids on ultrasound

My endometrial biopsy showed that I may have fibroids, but my ultrasound came back negative for them. However, I am experiencing many of the symptoms including fullness in my pelvic area and back pain. I should add that I had an endometrial ablation about a year ago for heavy bleeding.

Could undetected fibroids be causing my pain?

No fibroids on ultrasound

My ultrasound didn't show any fibroids at all. It made my doctor believe that I had adenomyosis, but that can't be proven without a biopsy after the hyst.

After my surgery, I found out that my doctor removed a fibroid that was larger than my uterus! How that could avoid detection I don't know. The biopsy did show adenomyosis.

Also, my ultrasound showed one cyst on one of my ovaries. The biopsy showed multiple cysts on both ovaries.

So, I'd trust your judgement, your symptoms, and your doctor.

In order to provide more details for more accurate responses:

1. I had a D&C, hysteroscopy, and laparoscopy in January 2006 to try to diagnose my heavy bleeding. Nothing showed up, and the Dr. hoped the D&C would help.
2. The heavy bleeding did not improve--actually, it got worse. So the Dr. did an endometrial ablation in May 2006.
3. The degree of bleeding I've experience has been great. Although I wasn't one of the lucky ones to have no bleeding, it is very minimal and only lasts a couple of days.

Since fall 2006, I have noticed that each month I am having more and more cramping before my period. Since December 2007, I have been experiencing a lot of back pain 1 the 1 1/2 weeks before my period. I have also gained a lot of weight, some of which I cannot attribute to my eating or exercise habits.

Could it be that even though nothing showed back in January or May 2006 that fibroids could be the cause? I'm trying to my thoughts and information together before I go back to the Dr.

No fibroids on ultrasound

Ooops...I should also note when doing the hysteroscopy that the Dr. did comment that my uterus was enlarged although not to the point where it definitely pointed toward something.

No fibroids on ultrasound

I have a family history of fibroids, had all the classic symptoms, and two ultrasounds and hysteroscopy showing fibroids. In spite of all this, my second opinion doc who ultimately did the surgery, wouldn't even consult with me before I had an MRI. I'm not sure why. Maybe MRI's are more sensitive? I know they're pretty expensive and luckily insurance covered it. The MRI not only confirmed the presence of the fibroid but the tech could also tell from the MRI that the fibroid was 70% necrosed.
