50ish, bloated and gassy!!!

I had my hysterectomy in Jan and I still seem to be really bloated and super gassy lately. And the big one... is there help for losing weight or am I stuck with this excess forever?

50ish, bloated and gassy!!!

Sissydog

Hi, Its my one year hysterversary and I'm still feeling bloated, gassy and hover within 5lbs. I'm flabby round the middle where there were muscles before and all the exercise doesn't seem to shift it. I'm fed up but not giving in.

Re: 50ish, bloated and gassy!!!

Marilyn, your post made me feel so much better. I'm 4 months status post TAH/BSO and still get bloated and gassy so easily. I've been working on my ab muscles but to no avail but not giving up (yet). I also realized that I have become so used to "stretchy" pants and sundresses that there is nothing holding those muscles in. So I'm back in my jeans and shorts and even though they're not as comfortable I think that support is necessary to push those muscles back in. LOL

Re: 50ish, bloated and gassy!!!

I'm 53 and waiting for a date for my hysterectomy. My step-daughter, age 43, underwent one a few years ago. She recently visited and talked me into getting a pilates power gym machine to help rebuild the core muscles afterwards. Unfortunately, she has had multiple abdominal surgeries, adhesions, and is undergoing chemo now for metastatic cancer, but she still tries to stay in shape...she's always been an exercise fanatic. She says the pilates machine is the only exercise she's found that seems to be beneficial and doesn't cause her pain. And she still has a nice waistline (something I mourn the loss of with my big fibroid belly). I actually enjoy using it and get a good low-impact workout from it.

Thanks for sharing your stories. I've been wondering if I'll ever wear my jeans and anything with a waist again.
