Should I Call My Doctor or Is This Normal?

Had my hysterectomy on 09/09/11, feeling fine after a couple of days but have started bleeding, somedays only spots of blood but this morning pain in my right side and some bright red blood, what does this mean, should o ring my doctor or is this normal.

Worried

Re: Should I Call My Doctor or Is This Normal?

Lydia!

We're glad you found us! Some bleeding/discharge can be normal as you recover. It can be just a part of healing, stitches dissolving or from doing too much too soon. If it is bright red blood, I would give the doctor a call just to be sure.

Please let us know how you're doing!

I would call the doc just to make sure it is normal. I always used to worry about bothering them but found that they do understand and if they had a concern, they would have me come in. Hopefully it is nothing.

Re: Should I Call My Doctor or Is This Normal?

The instructions I received when I was discharged from the hospital said that some spotting is normal but if it's bright red blood (or if there's a lot of it) to call the doctor. If there's only a little, it's probably nothing to be alarmed about... but it would be best to hear that from the doctor, right?

Please check back in and let us know how you're doing.
