Swelly belly 4 weeks post hysterectomy

4 weeks post Davinci. Kept ovaries only. Severe swelling I look 8 months pregnant, I'm more swollen now then right after surgery 😔 feeling very frustrated & sad. Also unable to pass gas no matter what I do. Dr said to continue gas x & stay away from Gluten. Anyone else having this prob. I just keep getting bigger in my stomach

I'm sorry you are so swollen, that must be very uncomfortable. I was very swollen post op too, but generally it gets a little better each week, not worse. You mention you aren't able to pass gas, are you having bowel movements? It could explain your belly becoming distended. If you aren't having BMs it's important to get your digestive system moving soon.

Walking is very important post op, and can help with swelly belly and also to get the digestive system moving. Keep drinking lots of water and let us know how you're feeling. Please call your doctor if your belly continues to swell or if you're having any other symptoms that cause you concern.

Thank you. I've had bm's and that's the only time I pass gas. I talked w Dr. @ 2 am post op appt & he said continue gas x & stool softener & it'll eventually go down I drink need to drink more, I walk & sometimes the more I walk the more swollen I get. I'm distended 24/7 gets worse by night time. So sick of this.

I'm almost 5 months post op kept one ovary. Istill get swelly belly when I over due it. Your body takes time to adjust is what my doc said. I do know a lot of women after hysterectomy have bowel and gas problems. Whenever I get backed up I drink the mag citrate drink u drink before surgery and it works wonders and gas x I was taking 3x a day now down to 1x a day. Make sure your drinking lots of water it helps wonders
